ACUTE COLLAPSE

There are various causes of acute collapse that can be life threatening. If your pet becomes weak and collapses and refuses to get up, first check the gums, pale or blanched gums is a sign of low blood pressure. Two of the most common causes of collapse include anaphylactic reactions to insect stings and internal bleeding. Internal bleeding can be the result of a poison or in older dogs the rupture of an abdominal tumor. Regardless acute collapse should be considered an immediate emergency and your pet should be evaluated by a veterinarian immediately.
