COUGHING

Coughing can be a sign of disease of the lungs or heart. Causes of coughing include kennel cough (a viral and bacterial infection), fluid in the lungs from heart failure, asthma, pneumonia, or something stuck in the throat. Prolonged episodes of coughing can be a sign of a serious medical condition. If the cough is severe and results in collapse or the tongue or gums turning blue the pet should be evaluated immediately.
